Chat Exporter for ChatGPT · Effective October 3, 2026

The short version: your chats are processed in your browser, not uploaded to the developer or ExtensionPay. Export files are created on your device. Optional Pro payments and license checks use ExtensionPay.

1. Who we are

Chat Exporter for ChatGPT ("the extension") is an independent Chrome extension that exports the conversation you open on chatgpt.com or chat.openai.com to PDF, Word, Markdown, HTML, JSON or plain text. It is not affiliated with OpenAI. ChatGPT is a trademark of OpenAI.

2. What information the extension handles

The extension reads the open ChatGPT conversation when you use it, including the title, conversation URL and identifier, message text, formatting, code, tables and image references. Full-chat loading scrolls the current conversation to collect messages available through the page. Export processing takes place inside your browser.

The developer does not receive your conversations, exports, ChatGPT credentials or browsing history through the extension. The extension does not include advertising, usage analytics or tracking code. It does not send chat content to ExtensionPay.

To include images, the extension may request the original image URLs using your existing browser session. These requests go to the image's source, not to a developer export server. The background image-fetch fallback is restricted to ChatGPT and OpenAI image hosts. Images that cannot be retrieved may appear as links or notes instead. The source sites continue to handle requests under their own policies.

3. What is stored on your device

Daily free-use record: the current local date and identifiers of chats counted toward the free allowance are saved in chrome.storage.local. The allowance resets when the extension evaluates a new local date. These identifiers are not uploaded for quota tracking.
PDF print job: a copy of the conversation and footer setting is temporarily saved in local extension storage so the print page can open it. The print page removes that stored job after reading it. If the print page never reads it, the job may remain until it is replaced or extension storage is cleared.
ExtensionPay account/license data: the bundled payment library saves an installation timestamp, an account API key and cached account/subscription information. This uses chrome.storage.sync, with local storage as a fallback. If Chrome sync is enabled, Chrome may sync that data through your Google account. Cached account data may include the email used for payment or login.
Export files: the files you save remain wherever you choose to save them. Removing the extension does not delete those files.

Working copies of messages and images are also held in memory during processing. Clearing extension storage or uninstalling removes browser-managed extension data. This does not cancel a paid subscription or delete account records held by ExtensionPay or Stripe.

4. Why the extension requests its permissions

`scripting`	Connects the content script to an existing ChatGPT tab when needed to read or load the conversation.
`chatgpt.com` and `chat.openai.com`	Reads the conversation and obtains images for the export on those sites.
`*.oaiusercontent.com`	Retrieves OpenAI-hosted images for inclusion in your export.
`extensionpay.com`	Checks license status and supports payment and account login. The bundled ExtensionPay script runs on this site to activate paid access.

5. Third-party services and Pro payments

Pro subscriptions are managed by ExtensionPay, which uses Stripe for payment processing. ExtensionPay may handle your email, account identifier and subscription status; Stripe handles payment information. Payment details are entered in the provider's checkout, not collected by the extension's export code. License requests include an ExtensionPay account key, not chat content.

Information you provide for payments is subject to the providers' policies. Please review ExtensionPay's privacy information on its website and Stripe's privacy policy. As with other websites, the Blogger-hosted page on which you read this policy may involve Google's own hosting, cookies or logging; that is separate from the extension's chat processing.

6. Your choices and responsibilities

You can use the free plan without purchasing Pro. Use the extension's subscription management control or ExtensionPay to manage paid access. Uninstalling does not cancel a subscription.

Export only conversations and images you have the right to save. Exports may contain personal or confidential information: store and share them carefully. Some exported formats may retain source links or image links; opening them can cause your browser or document viewer to contact those sources. Plain text represents images as descriptions or links rather than embedded pictures.

7. Children's privacy

The extension is not directed to children. It does not upload chat content to the developer. Anyone using paid services should follow the age requirements and privacy policies of the payment providers.

8. Changes to this policy

If how the extension handles data changes, this policy and its effective date will be updated. This policy describes version 1.0.0.
